"What Easter means for you" April 16, 2025 |
April 2025 ![]() What Easter means for singlesWe singles can feel like second-class citizens, but that's not the case in the Kingdom of God.Easter has special meaning for us. It secures our future, with no sense of lack or inadequacy. When the Church tells us we're not as favored as married folks with kids, Jesus (a single man himself) reminds us we're every bit as loved. A million years from now, only the love of God will matter. Easter is not just the expression of that love, but the fulfillment of a promise to cleanse us from all sin so we can enjoy God's presence for eternity. Don't let Easter go by as just another holiday. See what it means for you as a single.

This Chinese author and missionary spent the last 20 years of his life in prison for his faith in Jesus Christ. His Easter quote is especially poignant: ~ Watchman Nee. (1903-1972) ~ For centuries, history was divided into BC (before Christ) and AD (anno domino, Latin for "in the year of our Lord."). Today secular historians and archaeologists have switched to the terms BCE—Before Common Era and CE—Common Era. They don't want to recognize Christ. Each individual Christian used to live BC, before the Cross, when we were sinners and our final destination would have been hell. Now, since the Cross and Christ's resurrection, we're heaven-bound. Our New Year doesn't really begin January 1. It begins with Easter, the day of renewal and rebirth. This Easter, thank Jesus for his great sacrifice, driven by his colossal love for you. Christ and the Bible: Always steadyIn the turmoil of life, we singles can count on two things to always be steady: Jesus Christ and the Bible. That's especially important to remember right now. The world is chaotic but Christ is stable. The news media is deceitful but the Bible is trustworthy. When you need something solid to grab onto, go to Jesus and the Bible.
Nothing on Earth ruffles God. He has a plan for humanity and it will be carried out because no one and nothing have the power to thwart it. The Bible reveals what that plan is, and while Christians may argue over End Times scenarios, we all agree that Jesus is coming back. No matter what happens here, believers still go to heaven when we die. That will never change. Sure, that's comforting, but it's also good to remember God is for us in the here and now, as Psalm 46:1 says: Reading the Bible brings God close when you feel he's far away and not listening to you. If you have a red-letter Bible, the words of Jesus apply to your life, this moment. He hasn't changed. He sent his Holy Spirit to live inside you, guide you, and strengthen you in your daily battles. When it's a bad news day, as most of them are lately, go to Jesus. They don't call his message Good News for nothing.
